The Gospel of Jesus Christ

God's plan of salvation

Here it is in a "nutshell":
God is the Creator, Ruler and King over everything. As His creation, you were made to worship Him and enjoy a great relationship with Him. Apart from Him, all you have is what this world has to offer, such as money, success, etc...-- none of which can satisfy the void in your heart. Without God, you will never experience Him or what you were created to be, His child. All of us are sinners, (see Romans 3:23 and Isaiah 53:6) and need Jesus Christ as our Savior to deliver us from sin and regenerate our spirits so that we can know God. Unless you are submit yourself to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will be sent to hell when you die for eternal punishment. Hell is an awful place of punishment for the devil and his followers; Jesus said that " He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters." (Matthew 12:30). There is no neutral ground!

God promises that all who believe in Jesus Christ will be saved (see Romans 10:9-10 and John 1:12-13 ). However, believing in Jesus is not just agreeing to the facts about His life or recognizing that He's a great person or teacher. True belief is actually trusting in and relying upon to the point of obedience. You see, if you truly know the Lord, you will keep His commandments (see John 14:15 & 21) and enjoy doing so (see I John 5:1-3)! If you think you know God and yet do not keep His commandments, including loving His Son Jesus Christ with all of your heart, you are deceived and the truth is not in you (see I John 2:3-6). You need Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior-- we all do! So here's what you need to do:

1. Realize what you're doing. By turning to Jesus, you are first turning away from yourself. Jesus said, "Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." (Matthew 16:24-25). You are giving up your right to run your own life as you see fit and placing your heart, life and destiny in the hands of Jesus Christ. You are whole-heartedly turning away from doing things your own way to Him. You are giving up your spiritual death for His eternal life!
2. Repent of your sins! Repent means to change direction. Turn from your sins, not to the power of your self-will to change yourself, but to God! Don't wait to get yourself all cleaned up to come to Him; come just as you are and He will save you!
3. Cry out to God in faith! Now, this doesn't mean to just pray a quick "Sinner's Prayer" (which actually isn't even in the Bible), but rather to cry out to God with your whole heart, in your own words, and ask Him to change your life and be your Lord. Entrust yourself to Him!

How to walk with God

If you've really made Jesus your Savior, there's more good news for you! God didn't just save you to let you try your best to live right. He gave you His Holy Spirit, who will give you the power to obey God and live a righteous life. He will give you the power to overcome sinful habits and addictions and daily make you more like Jesus. But, you do have a part to play in this-- you must deny yourself (reject the old tendencies to live however you want) submit yourself to His leadership everyday of your life (please read Romans 8:9-14). Will you fail at times? Sure! But a true child of God always keeps maturing in his relationship with God and becomes more like Jesus over time.

Common Excuses

But why do I need to be saved? I'm a good person!

The Bible says that we are all born as sinners, people have what is called a sin nature. What this means is that, in the very core of our beings we are "bent" towards sin and unable to truly become holy as God created us to be. The results of this sin nature are clearly seen in the newspapers every day! Lies, adultery, murders, theft and violence are obvious expressions of this evil. However, the greatest expressions of this sin nature is the refusal to submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. You see, you may be a "good" person, but you are unable to have a relationship with God. Since God is completely holy, His nature is unable to co-exist with our sin natures unless we are born-again. Sin makes a true relationship with God impossible, which is why we need a Savior. Jesus Christ took the punishment for our sins, taking the wrath of God (and people) upon Him in our place by dying a horrible death on the cross. When we are born-again, we exchange our nature for His nature, which is holy. He gives us His Holy Spirit to indwell us and change us on a daily basis. As we mature in our relationship with God, we become more and more like Jesus, by the on-going work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, who empowers us to obey Him.

But I do believe in God, just not Jesus!

Jesus made it very clear that those who truly believe in God will receive and believe in His Son, Jesus Christ (see John 14:6 and all of John 14-17). Jesus proved that He was the prophesied Messiah by fulfilling over 300 prophecies in perfect detail, by His incredible teachings and by the miracles He did, which even included raising the dead! He claimed to be God, proved it by His life and gave all of humanity a choice to make- submit to Him as Lord or perish. Many people are offended at Jesus' exclusive claims, yet they cannot refute the overwhelming amount of evidence that backs up His claims.
